Class sizes are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, complete the sign-up form and then call Aberdeen Bike during normal business hours to finalize your registration and submit payment.

Bike Care & Repair with Kevin Sanchez

Join Aberdeen Bike owner Kevin Sanchez for a comprehensive six-session series covering bicycle repair and maintenance. Each class focuses on a key aspect of bicycle mechanics and builds toward completing a full bike tune-up. No prior experience is required.
Topics include:
Shifting: Learn how drivetrains work, how to make adjustments, and how to diagnose common shifting issues.
Brakes: Explore the major brake systems and learn how to properly adjust and maintain them. Includes a demonstration of hydraulic brake bleeding.
Wheels: Understand wheel components, wheel maintenance, and troubleshooting. Wheel building not included. See Wheel Building class for more details.
Bearings: Learn about headsets, bottom brackets, and wheel bearings, including adjustment and maintenance techniques.
Tires and Tubes: Proper tire installation, tube replacement, puncture repair, patching, and tire maintenance.
Cables and Hoses: Learn how to cut, install, and adjust cables and hydraulic hoses.
Electronic Shifting: Installation, setup, adjustment, software updates, and troubleshooting for major electronic drivetrain systems.

Winter 2027 Classes
Wheel Building
This intensive five-hour class teaches the fundamentals of building a bicycle wheel from the ground up. Learn how to measure rims and hubs to calculate spoke length, properly lace a wheel, and perform truing, dishing, and tensioning to create a strong, reliable wheel.
Suspension
Learn from our certified suspension technician about the principles, maintenance, and repair of modern bicycle suspension systems. You'll gain an understanding of suspension performance, common service intervals, and the signs that indicate your suspension may need professional attention.
Bike Care & Repair 101
These hands-on workshops are designed to help riders build confidence in maintaining and repairing their own bicycles. Participants learn essential skills such as performing safety checks, fixing flat tires, adjusting brakes and gears, proper chain maintenance, and basic troubleshooting. These classes provide practical knowledge that can help keep your bike safe, reliable, and road-ready while reducing the cost of routine maintenance.
